Radio Format
Genre
Documentary – Normally
they cover a topic or subject where there is a mixture of commentary and sound
pictures. People might use composed music when it comes to creating a radio
documentary. If not, people just present it a straightforward journalistic type
but at a greater deal. An example being a documentary on the Tiger, the
presenter will talk about the animal giving facts and information, going on to
interview lets say Elephant preservationists, while tiger sound effects can be
heard in the background.
An Educational
broadcast is a radio show designed to educate the members of the public. This
could be education in anything from Science to Animation. Similar to
Documentary but more serious in giving facts and information towards us all.
A Special Interest is
a type of radio broadcast that only be listened to for one reason. An example
can be a book reading or a live sports match being narrated
A Magazine genre is a broadcast
that will discuss various topics though these usually align with a particular
subject overview. If it was about film, they may talk about the director, the
film, actors and music.
Formats
Presenter led is the
format that is led by a presenter; who speaks throughout the documentary
(intro/outro, fact segments, interviews,
= speaking directly to the audience). An example is my documentary about
football in which I deal out commentary on the subject of incidents while
making it look like I’m talking to the audience
Narrated is a format
in which the person speaking is leaning more towards describing something that
is currently happening, like the commentator over a game of sports. This format will not often communicate
directly to the audience, possibly only for a brief period as an intro.
Discussion is where a
host of a radio show gathers several people to talk about a particular subject.
In mine, I only had a discussion with one
